OK, I guess it time for me to be a whiner. I have fished the Nisqually, Puyallup, and Carbon lately. After a two year, not many trips to the rivers break. I have to ask, where the hell did everyone come from? And who taught them manners? It's just as bad far from the "Greater" Puget Sound area. It seems to me that few people know what a trash bag is. What a legal fishing method is. Or even a legal fish. I saw people keeping "jacks" in the green can fishery. Ummnn, what about the 22 inch size? I counted 70 people one rainy nasty sunday on the Nasty. In a half mile! Then I counted way beyond my toes and fingers on the Carbon. Almost all the fish landed have been snagged. I think the state knows when the most people are fishing the meat runs. So why is no one enforcing the regs? I think it is high time for the state to hire volunteer Game Wardens. There is a great need for them. On the Skok, I had a ball of line that I pulled out of the river that could have made a gill net big enough for a whale! And they don't have gills. Come on people, just use some common sense and courtesy. Pick up after yourselves. Your Mother doesn't live on the rivers. Read the regs too. To all those who are trying to be good, THANK YOU! I'm done ranting now. Tight Lines.

Stripping violators of their licenses is not enough--sounds like they are already breaking the law. What's taking away a little piece of paper from them going to do? especially since enforcement is lacking. Someone told me awhile back you could have your fishing gear, boat, car confiscated for illegal fishing practices and a hefty fine levied against you since the ESA--that would be the way to go; then the stuff could be auctioned off and the $$$ used to hire fish and game coppers. I realize this is an overly simplistic "plan", but it's a start. The best way to get the point across is to hit people deep in their wallets. The biggest obstacle would be to make sure funds are not magically funneled into ye old state general funds coffer!

Big Jim I agree it is out of hand! I can not enforce the rules and it really gets to me to see so many people that just do not care. They seem to think that they are above the law. I just try my best to out fish them and show them there is a better way to fish that snagging. I now call them the "jerks" since this is what they are doing, stand and jerk. Some of us guys that fish the local rivers plan river clean ups. This helps, many people see what you are doing and will pitch in. Large organizations move to slow. Small groups seem to get things done much better. ------------------ dank Keep The Rivers Clean!

An article in one of the BC newspapers regarding the spring time closure of the Campbell Quinsam Englishman and such said the fine would be in the thosands of dollars it was such a great amount that my mind can't get around it to recall. They also in BC confiscate the equipment right up to the transportation vehicles, thats pretty thorough. Does it stop all poaching no but it sure slows it down.

Taking away someone's gear when they are abusing the fishing grounds will at least make them think twice the next time they come out.

I'm all for volunteer wardens, all you have to do is act, you have the right as a citizen to detain any law breaking person, was down at mukilteo launch after fishing the ship wreck people fishing from the boatlaunch dock deffintly for salmon with point definance jigs after being told the area was closed till the 15th didn't seem to phase them so i called state patroll being as though one was right up the street and would respond quickly, problem is they don't know the rules they are suppose to enforce and all they do is give warnings and clear them out, i agree if they started writing tickets and confescating equipment alot of this would stop but our law inforcement isn't doing at least the basic and writing tickets very disapointed in state patrol

If I see one more camo wearing funny hair cut looking inbred, snagging SOB on the Nisqually I'm goona have a melt down... Don't get me wrong I have nothing against the military My father served 25 years and being raised an Army brat ,I'm not anti Military. I'm just anti-poaching when they are riiged up a 1 ounce teardrop on the bootom with 2 4/0 rigged on a small dropper above the weight about a foot or so...YOU ARE SNAGGING Don't urinate down my back and try and tell me it's raining,I assume since we were on the FT Lewis side that the WDFG has no juristiction here I'm taking down license numbers...enough is enough. Because when I bring it to you're attention you give me that mind you're own B*ll S*it response...guess what it is my business sorry for ranting I had to vent...There is a new Sherriff on the Nasty...I'm it ------------------ Row Quietly and fish a Cataraft }<<(('>----<'))>>{ Release all Wild Fish

I go fishing to have a good time and relax a little. However when I see people poaching I get madder than h***. These two facts are obviously in conflict. If you tell these morons to stop poaching they are probably going tell you to fly a kite or worse yet I have seen guys almost get in a fight. So the question is what to do about the poachers?
Recently I was fishing the North Fork of the Stilly (in July) right at Deer Creek and across the river and a couple of Goobers where plunking just upstream at there little campground. You need to understand I am not a fly snob, I’ll use a gob of eggs or some shrimp, but only when legal to do so. Anyway I yell to friend to use his cell phone (which he didn’t really even have) to call the poaching hotline. So the Goobers think better of their little plunking scheme and pull their plunking pole out of the water. Now they could of gone back to poaching after I left, but I felt better and I didn’t have to start any conflicts. I believe that if more true fisherman did more to say something to the poachers it would improve the situation.

One thing I have noticed about poachers is that they are camera shy. I try to take a video camera with me, and you would be amazed how many fish are released when you’re filming.
Peace
