I am thinking about starting to make my own spinners but I don't really have a clue on what I need. I talked to some old timers in area nine a couple weeks ago and they say that making spinners is easy and cheap. Could someone please give me some advice on what I need to get started and what colers and weights I'd need. Thankyou

Pick up Jed Davis's book Spinner fishing for Steelhead and that will tell you how to make spinners and you can get all the components you need from an outfit in Oregon called the Fisherman's Shack.

There is nothing magical about making your own spinners and it is much cheaper in the long run. Here is a link that shows how to make a basic spinner. When you get the components for the spinners try to match spinner blade size and body weights. They are easy to customize once you get the basics down.

Jed Davis' book is excellent. There is a company is Monroe call More-Tac that has all spinner making components. I bought and built 100 spinners while recovering from back surgery this past winter and they came to be about $1.00 each. Killer deal.
