While fishing the sky this morning had this federal agent come piss assing down the river on a jet ski in the fog and ask me to leave. I asked him why and he said, "George Bush is giving a speech up river and the river is closed to all below the speech site.
The agent was very proffesional and polite and had a large auto wepon strapped to his side/back. This didn't bother me much, security should be tight. But what bothered me was I arived on the river before light and up stream there was lots of bright construction lights and heavy equipment by the bank. Walked up to investigate and it appeared from what I could see through the fog that they were cutting down trees along the river at a very serious bend. Figured that it was some land owner cutting eleagaly but after the agent stop my fishing I realized that this is where George is going to speak and he needed the proper back drop of the river for the cameras to give his conservation speech. As I left the river I blinked twice to see if I could see the image "RAT!"

So I guess George W had to cut down those annoying willows within the river buffer so he could give a speech on how to save Pacific Northwest Salmon. What an idiot!

This story should go to the news papers.

Ditto on calling the media. You should email this side of the story to the local networks. If anything to determine if the logging affected the stability of the bank. Most of the local networks have electronic tip lines.

When I heard that on the news today I burst out laughing...what a bunch of bullsh*t he is spewing.

yeah his idea of conservation is to pay huge sums of money to private land owners to get them to do what they should be doing anyway.

I distinctly remember a post earlier this month commenting on the proper use of the "3 oz pyramid weight of love". I think I'd have casted that right at the *******!

That Large auto weapon was either an H & K MP-5 or a Sig 45....wither way the pyramid of love would have gotten you far more than you bargained for. I'm not sure I would feel comfortable going to the media with a story that you THINK might be true. I didn't get the impression from your post that you were positive that they were cutting at the speech site. Even if they were, I would think that someone would have thought of the adverse publicity caused if word got out. Political advisors get paid millions just to keep candidates out of this kind of trouble. Just a thought.

I'm here to tell you that Gov. Bush was more likely up there planting trees and sucking silt out of the river thru a straw". And gee, I didn't know that it took millions of dollars just to keep GOP idiot's mistakes from getting them in trouble. Hmmm.

Fished this morning below spot where Bush made his speech on proerty rights the other morning. There was no fog this morning so I could see if there was any major damage done to stream side and there apeared to be little. Talked to a high up demercrat about this type of stuff yesterday and he said all sides both Dems and replicans do a lot of stupid things for photo ops.
Thankyou wit45cal for your informative knowledge of arms. I was curious of what the secret service carries when protecting such high up officials. By the way I'll repeat again that this agent was very polite in asking me to leave the river and I fully understand the importance of good security in this day and age. We don't need any more assinations of people who are running for high office. By the way that bright orange suit was most likely a survival suit such as commercial fishermen use in an emergency in Alaska.
