Limits of kings and a couple of late summer-runs yesterday. An exceptional day, yet not for the good catch, but because all were hooked using the same technique -- on tandems. Those that utilize this technique know of its effectiveness. But, typically my partner and I employ multiple tactics, and at the very minimum hook at least one keeper drift fishing. Anyway, I replaced the normal beads between the bait and spin-n-glo with ones that rattle. Last year I ordered them, made by Northland, through Cabela's. But I didn't try them until yesterday. Now I'm not certain that the rattling beads were the main reason for our success; for me presentation is still the key. But, they obviously did not hurt. I imagine they will improve a plunker's success also.

Not sure what you mean by a tandem rig. Could you describe it some so I get the picture or maybe so I can recognize it as one of my riggings. The rattling bead sounds interesting.

Yea, I like those beads too. I also stack them up for a spinner body. A stack of the cerise ones look like a cluster of eggs.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Marty,

I think Hohwaiian is tying two hooks in tandem, like a salmon mooching rig, only with a shorter gap between the hooks. Some guys run their drift bobber between the two hooks, some park a spin-n-glo on the top hook (With beads to prevent line twist)and let the other one dangle for those short-hitting fish. A very effective rig for solid hookups.

Didn't mean to answer for you, Hoh. Sounds like you're having fun.......

Fish on.......

STRIKE ZONE, I'm pretty shure Hoh. is referring to tri-beads. They are trianlgular shaped beads with knobs on the tips of the triangle. When stacked they kind of nest together. The only place I have seen them is in the Cabelas saltwater fishing special catalog. You can order them from www.cabelas.com just type in nz-31-3970 in the catalog ordering space. Unfortunatly they don't have a picture of them on the web page.

Marty a "tandem" or "tandem rig" refers to a diver/bait combo. The diver I use is a Magnum Hot-N-Tot painted black. The bait is usually a whole sandshrimp preceded by two beads and a Spin-N-Glo at the end of a five foot leader attached to the diver.

The rattling beads are made by Northland Tackle a company specializing in walleye gear. Each bead (7mm) is hollow and contains tiny steel shot that make a low clicking sound when you shake them.

Strike Zone, I got them from Cabela's. But Bass Pro has them also I think.

Hoh,

I agree with you when you said presentation was the key. If you're good with the sticks and can get that McGiver (Don't know why we call the bait diver that) down with the fish, you'll get fish.
