WDFW has "concerns" over the fact that the commercials (treaty and non-treaty)overharvested the Kings. Depending on their level of concern they could shut Kings down on the Chehalis tribs and main...what are your thoughts on this?

I had the most unpleasant opportunity to view the slaughter of Chehalis Silver and Kings the last couple of days that the white gillnetters killed. They had 1000's. They off loaded at the 28th street ramp and if you wanted to launch your boat you had to wait till they off loaded in the flatbeds and semi's. WDFW were helping them load into big totes.

I also took a few pictures so if you need to see I'll email ya. fp

Why Jim, I'd be shocked and dismayed to discover that harvest management didn't (for the hundred and umpteenth time) consider water conditions before planning a fishery. Let's see, weeks and weeks of low water that would discourage all but the bravest of kings from venturing upstream of tidal influence. So maybe a huge % of the total run is lounging around the harbor and river mouths, within reach of the net fishery, a previously scheduled opening occurs, and voila', harvest happens! Just hope that doesn't turn out to be over-harvest. Nope, never seen that play before - wish that were true.

Refer to my reply to Retriever for more info on basically this subject.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Jim,
I have been on the river day in and day out and have had some decent success at that, but nothing compared to what the gillnetters have been pulling out. I go over the bridge at least twice a day and even today there was gillnetters in. If they have low numbers of kings then shut the damn gillnetters down for the season, enough said. This is such complete BS. I wonder how much damage a bowling ball of the bridge would do? j/k! Jim we need to get hooked up for a trip either your sled or mine, doesn't really matter to me.
