Smoker recommendation.

Hello to all. After 16 years of use I am needing to upgrade my gas smoker as it is worn out. I am looking for recommendations, ie favorite brands that you use
I do not want to take a step back to charcoal and the mess that goes with them. I do not have any experience with electric versions, or puck dispensing types so any advise or pros/cons would be appreciated. I smoke various meats of different sizes such as Chicken, Turkey, Beef roasts, and of course Fish. I have a max $500 towards the purchase so take that into consideration. Thanks Jim

Got one of these a couple years ago: http://www.smokin-it.com/Might be a little out of the price range, but they are very well built, and you'll be hard pressed to find a negative review. Excellent customer service, and you'll find everything you need to know about smoking anything on the forums. Definitely recommend one that has the PID meat and temp probe.

I use a 18" Weber smokey mountain for pork, beef and foul and I have two little chief smokers for fish, shellfish and jerky...
as messy as the Weber is with charcoal, wood and all, its a $hit load of fun smoking some scrumptious bbq...

Got only great things to say about my CookShack Elite. Out of the $500 price range, but never regretted it for a second.

I like my Bradley digital 6 rack smoker, the ability to control the box temp and maintain it makes it really versatile. Had it 8 or so years now, no problems.
I'd buy another one of this one got damaged. Agreed.

Offset barrel smoker with lump hardwood charcoal and your soaked chips of choice. Also get yourself (2) chimney starters as well. $150 bucks at Lowe's. Save the other $350 for fishing and / or buying tasty meats for said smoking. There is a reason why the competition guys all use lump hardwood charcoal. Or go electric if you are lazy.

Offset barrel smoker with lump hardwood charcoal and your soaked chips of choice. Also get yourself (2) chimney starters as well. $150 bucks at Lowe's. Save the other $350 for fishing and / or buying tasty meats for said smoking. There is a reason why the competition guys all use lump hardwood charcoal. Or go electric if you are lazy. Offset stick burner...can't get 'em at Lowe's.

That's a nice rig. I just roll with my old bomb proof Brinkman. Its not nearly as nice, but it does smoke up just fine. One trick I learned was to buy a furniture moving pad / blanket for insulation. Wrap it up tight and it really helps to keep it in the zone.
Wish this rain would ease up. A nice sunny day standing over hot coals would be awesome right about now....

I don't have the digital Bradley since I'm not very good at electronical things but my regular Bradley has been flawless for me for 8+ years and thousands of pounds of meat. If this broke I'd get the 6 rack digital like BannedUser. I like the more finite ability to precisely regulate temperatures that the digital offers but it doesn't take much trial and error with the conventional Bradley.
