Hey Kory, No offense but I think the folks on this board would take you a little more seriously if you checked your spelling. Good luck.

Kory, ---I seareusly fish the Skagit. It is my mane river. I question your spelling considering that you are a colige student and all. Are you a produckt of publick edgeukashun.

Yeah, --- I'm making fun of your spelling. It's atrocious. But this is a fishing site so lets talk about fishing.

What do you want to know about fishing on the Skagit? What information do you have to share?

It's full of silvers and some dogs right now. What would you recommend for bait? There will be a six fish limit, two adults plus four jacks beginning Friday so now is the time to get them.

Plunker,

I read with intrest your post regarding the Skagit. Yes, I consider it my "home waters" since that is where I learned to fish and have been able to catch all native salmonid species from the river and her tribs. When you mentioned that it opened Fri. with a 6 fish limit (two adult) I quickly opened WDF&W home page thinking that there was an emergency opening. I believe it was only open for a one adult coho below Gilligan creek. According to the regulations that I have, this will remain in effect until Nov. 1.

There is some good water to fish if you follow the South Skagit River Road. Look for slower water with fish rolling. Sometimes it takes a while but if you put your time in, you'll catch some fish by pitching spinners or spoons.

Dave, --- I was wrong about the six fish limit. The WDFW was about to approve the change but now they are having second thoughts. Beginning Friday their should be a limit of two adults, either coho or dog salmon and "possibly" the opportunity for some jacks as well. The planned announcement should allow fishing seven days a week below Gilligan creek. We'll just have to wait and see.

I've had fair success so far this year in the area you mention. All of my hook-ups have been on half and half #2 brass/silver canadian wonders but for the dogs I suggest shrimp and bobbers or scented green yarn. They also seem to like rubber worms.

Please pack it out. - Plunker

Kory,

I've fished the Skagit since 1972 and lived on it for 15 years. I guess you could say it's my "mane" river, or at least one of my favorite rivers.

I'm no typist either, and my spelling ain't perfect, either. And I understand that spelling and grammar are not highly valued in email and some areas of cyberspace. But I don't know you, can't see you, and can't hear you. Did you really expect your post to be taken seriously? I shouldn't be so biased, but when I read your post, I envisioned someone who just crawled out of the woods with a real odd tattoo to missing tooth ratio. So what is it you might teach me? About fishing, I mean.

I mostly fly fish. The Skagit is great water for the fly, except for kings. I've also thrown spinners and spoons. They all work, given the right time, place, and presentation.

Good luck, and I hope you read better than you spell, or you won't be able to benefit from any of the information folks share on this BB.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.
