A couple of buddies and i hit the green below soos creek tonight. There were lots of fish and the fishing was good. I managed to get one on some wierd fly and my pal got two. However, it was sad and disappointing to see how some of the other fisherman conducted themselves. Especially a group of young kids who crowded were i was fishing and snagged a dying spawned out chinook form the confluence of the soos. The fish came in dorsal first and was thrown on the bank and beat with a stick. It is my understanding that you cant even keep chinook out of that system and at this time of year. Although I may be wrong about that. But the fish was old and was ready to end its incredible journey. The lack of respect these kids had for that fish that beat the odds and only wanted to die protecting its nest to ensure the survival of future generations makes me sick. To top things off one of the kids cast upriver from me and his weighted bare hook managed to snag my leg. One sad day. But on a brighter note there were lots of silvers and the river was in great shape.

Did anybody say anything?
Sometimes those young kids just don`t know what the implications are.

It's a shame. Today's kid's and some parents have no morals at all. Kid's certainly are not getting taught morals in school anymore. Not for years. And it looks to me like they are not getting it a home either. It's no wonder the USA is in the condition that it is in today.

It seems that when the salmon are in, it brings out the worst kind of element to our rivers.

It's too bad that people can't respect a resource that is on the brink in some places. How are some of these people going to feel, if and when the miracle of nature can't repeat itself anymore. I for one am a better person for having had the opportunity to experience the thrill of these fish. Some people just don't have a clue!

The fruit doesn't fall from the tree. If you witnessed this and didn't speakup tha shame on you. Peer pressure is a great thing and a little goes a long way. You said that you were there with a friend so you had backup. Cut the line yourself and have your buddy back you up. No need for a fist fight or anything but one person can make a difference. At lest speak out.
