I like to fish chum in the rivers, lots of fun on medium to light gear, I've had good success with corkies and spinners. What are some of the things you guys have had luck with?.

When I actually fish for chum k-14's work well in purple green tail, pink & purple tails too. Pretty nasty fish if you ask me but they are great to take out new fishermen or family from the east coast.

Just to clear up a couple of things, I don't really fish chums for eating just for the fun of catching a good hard fighting fish. I do however keep one or two for the smoker, depending on how fresh they are. Anyway just curious on what other guys are using. Thanks for the input.

Fiveweight, do you have a boat? If so, then the Kwikfish could soon become your new best friend. K-15's along the edges and K-14's if the water is running fast. Off the bank you chuck corkies and yarn soaked in shrimp oil, sand shrimp, brass spoons, and the like. Chumkins are not picky and they are super aggressive fish. Once you find them, it is usually not a matter of what they "will" bite on but finding something they "won't" bite on. I've already seen several locally and Parker caught and released a mid-teener last weekend.

It's a no brainer if you're on the bank. Pink jig under a float, add some prawn if things get tough and you don't hook one for a half hour. You hook more fish and they are all in the mouth...you won't go back to corkies.

Hey rookie, K-14's and K-15's are models of a plug called a "kwikfish" they're a diving plug somewhat similiar to wiggle warts and tadpollys in the way they're fished. If you can find the archives on here, there's been tons of posts about tuning them, fishing them, and picking colors.

saukit2em, no I don't have a boat, but my partner does. So when he decides not to fish I'm on the bank, I've done pretty well from there, but sometimes it can be tough. I've got a good supply of what everybody has been mentioning so it looks like I'll be set for when they get here in force. Let the fun begin!!! Thanks.
