Wow those are some gnarly pics. Thats a literal monster. They still exist in the north. 15 years ago, one of my fishing buddies walked out of a fishing spot and the guy he passed on the trail was a bear bio who got killed by a bear just minutes later.

Some friends were doing a salmon spawner survey in SE AK on a really big pink year. Have a really nice picture of a large, fuzzy rock that had a tail. They backed away. In later pics they got a view of the whole bear. They figure he was pushing 1,000 pounds; biggest they had seen. Should be noted that the pictures showed they were carrying rifles while counting fish. No incidents.

The guy in the track suit wasn't killed by a bear, it was a pack of gnomes....those little guys are nasty.
