was wondering were the log jam was on the green. Is it above whitney or below? If its below whitney can you pull your boat around it? Thinking about floating it tomorrow any info would be appreciated.

The logjam is below Soos Creek so your float won't be impacted. Check the regs though, I think the Green is closed above Hwy 18 until Wednesday.

That log jam really should be removed, during last winter many fish were having troubles geting passed it.

I agree salmontackler. That log jam is dangerous and must be a nuasance for returing fish. Something should really be done. Also, is the chum fishing on the green good.

I looked at the logjam this weekend and it would be a huge and dangerous job to eliminate it. The salmon seem to be getting by with no problems.

Just joining the discussion. Log jams are generally positive features from a fish habitat stand point. What is it that makes this jam different? I think it's important to note that what is good or desirable for navigation isn't necessarily the same as being good for fish.

Consider that in the late 1800s there was a two mile long log jam, bank to bank, on the Skagit River just above the divergence of the north and south forks and downstream of the Mt. Vernon townsite. Salmon and trout populations didn't seem to mind.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.
