8-FOOT,
Let me see if I can help. Using Kwikfish is my favorite and most productive technique for fall salmon. There is really no art to it for chums. Most of the time you can flatline(no added weight/diver) as Chums tend to be edge travelers and stay in relatively shallow water. They key to success with Kwikies is the wrap and proper tuning. My catch rates went way up when I learned how to properly tune a Kwikie. You can't just throw the wrap on half-ass and let the plug flail around like a three-legged dog in heat. Most people, myself included back in the day, do not tune plugs right if they even tune them at all
Kwikfish and Flatfish are, in my opinion, the hardest plugs to tune, especially when you throw on a thick hunk of 'dine or 'chovy. Try Ted's Sport Center in Lynwood if you need a sardine fix. Ted's is the finest fishing store in the world might I add. If Ted's is out then you may be able to talk me out of parting with some of mine. I have a lot left.
I will be on the Sky/Snohomish this weekend with the infamous Parker utilizing Kwikfishing techniques as well as my other secret and not so secret Chum methods. I would love to go into more detail but I will have to save it for after this weekend. I have a derby to win. If the Berkley Powerbait secret ever gets out I don't know what I would do!
Check my profile and contact me via email for additional information. When the Chums get going strong you will not even need a wrap but until then, a 'dine is a big plus.
Good luck and let us know how you do.
