I have two Shimano Aero Stradic 2000 spinning reels. Both work, but one I don't use because it doesn't "feel right". I paid John's sporting goods thirty bucks to replace some gears a couple of years ago. It didn't feel right when I got it back, so I just bought a new one and shelved the repaired one.

My newer reel is starting to feel a little "sticky" when I first start reeling so I am wondering:

Is there a place that can make the replacement parts "fit right" for a reasonable cost?

or

Is there a handyman out there who would be interested in buying my reels? Is 80 bucks fair for the two reels? They both work, but do not have the "new" feel.

Take it in to the nearest retailer and they will send it back to Shimano to do a fixer upper I do it at least once a year with all of my stradics.

NewZealand, I have heard very good reports about sending you reels into Shimano to get worked on. It may take a little longer but you have people there that work on that kind of stuff every day. I'm not saying that Johns isn't good or anything but I took my Chronarch to him and he charged me $60 to fix my reel. I asked Outdoor Emporium out of Seattle and the guy in there said he sends his into Shimano every time and when he gets his reel back it is never the same reel!!! He gets the newest model for that reel and it's in a new box! So let me think, get my old reel fix or get a brand new reel from Shimano for free. Hope this helps, tight lines!
