I have two questions.

1. Has anyone ever fixed there breathable waders with Aqua-Seal. I ripped my breathable waders this weekend when a fishing trip up to the Chelasis in BC turned into a cliff climbing trip. The waders came with a patch kit but I can’t find it anywhere.

2. Does anyone know of any good rain dance ceremonies.

Here is to Rain Drops falling on Your Head

paul in b'ham, depending on how big the rip is just melt a pink worm and stick it were the rip is. I've heard that this works great! I know people that still wear there waders after being ripped for over a year now.

Paul,
You can fix breathable waders with aquaseal, just turn them inside out apply aquaseal to hole or tear. Let them set up overnight preferably inside.

Try the pink worm thing on the outside of the waders. Works much better than Aquaseal.

jq,

I have the Cabelas Dry Plus. They have treated me well for a year and a half. I do wish I had spent the extra money and bought the Simms Guide Weights. A couple buddies have them and they are bullet proof. If price is an issue, go Cabelas, if not, go Simms.

As far as repair, be careful what you apply to them. They are made with tempermental materials that can be harmed. Mine recommend only patching them with a kit made for them. I do believe there is more to this than just marketing of the kits.

Post your question at www.flyshop.com on the BB. There are some very knowledgeable people there and they are usually pretty good about helping with issues like this (there are alot of knowledgeable folks here to but it seems like most fisherman in the NW use neoprene).

Steve

Paul,

Depending on the size of the tear,

Take a needle and stitch the opening together, Lay a patch over the area and use wader seam tape (you apply with an iron) on both the inside and outside. You might also check a fabric store as they might carry a waterproof iron on patch.

A bike tube patch might also work.

best o luck

My buddy used Aqua-Seal on a pair of Hodgman breathable waders, and the seam where the whole was shriveled up and made the problem worse. He ended up needing to get a new pair.

Simms recomends aquaseal to fix their waders, and I've also used Loon Sun Patch on Simms,Tailwater's and Fly Tech breathable waders.

Two years ago we had a dry October and needed rain, I tried all the traditional rain dances and nothing worked, until I borrowed the neighbor womans grass skirt, did the dance and it rained that weekend, I figured I was onto something so I borrowed the coconut bra that went with the skirt, did the dance again and it rained until February, now the neighbors won't let me anywhere near the cerimonial rain dance gear.

I have used rod repair glue and regular hot glue with great results.
