Is it just my imagination or do most urban dwellers here, spend lots of time on the road to get to/from thier favorite holes/put-ins, etc.? Not to mention float/jetsled drive times to/from THE spot. What are your average distances traveled in time and or mileage? What are the best times or days to go to avoid traffic? Too many questions? Well how about a personal best travel story!

1- 1 1/2 hrs drive time. anymore and it is just to long. normally there are fish that close so why drive any farther. sometmes only 15 in drive time.

...living on Orcas has put a cramp in my fishing time! It takes me a couple of hours to get to the mainland, and then a couple more to get streamside. Luckily I have a fishing buddy in Bellingham...but I'm still unlikely to get out fishing unless I can spend a whole day on the water. I figure if I can't double my travel time in fishing time, it's not worth the trip...

I've never thought about tallying this up until I saw this post, but I did just out of curiosity. So far this year: to the Kalama, 40 trips @ 230 miles round-trip each time - 9,200 miles; Green River (King County), 3 trips @ 24 miles round-trip - 72 miles; Forks, 3 trips @ about 300 miles round-trip -900 miles; Montana, 1 trip - about 1,200 miles, just there and back; Troutville, Ore., 2 trips at about 260 miles round-trip - 520 miles; Hoodsport, 3 trips @ about 120 miles round-trip - 360 miles; Ellensberg, 1 trip at about 160 miles; Waitsberg, 1 trip at about 450 miles. This works out to about 12,862 miles. Wow.

On the average for drive time is about two to
two and a half hours per fishin trip. Can't remember how many trips this year???? The bottom line is my friends and I, will travel
great distances and hours just to have a chance at hooking a nice king or a large nate. And don't for get the halibut. Good luck, STRIKE ZONE

Well I must be one of the lucky ones. From home to the boat launch- E Fork Lewis 10 min.
N Fork lewis 25 min. Kalama 30 min. Cowlitz 45 min. I guess this is why I live here. I still do make the long trips. I will drive 4 1/2 hr to go fish the rivers close to Forks but this is when I can get at least two good days of fishing in. I can remember limping the truck home at 45 mph because the water pump was on its way out. Forks to home 7 hr.
Have fishing rods will travel !!!
