Has anyone out there tried vortex lures in the main rivers for steelhead or salmon?

I tried it one time this year fishing off of the bank at the colvin creek deadline. No strikes but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work. I only fished with it for +/- 20 minutes. I don't think it dove down as deep as th wiggle warts I was catching them on earlier that evening.
