Ninety percent of time I fish 2/5oz little cleos currently using a Lamiglass 8 1/2 ft what are the pros and cons of possibly switching to noodle rod?

For spoons and drift gear I like to use a 10' rod with a good backbone. It is not really a noodle rod. More like a longer steelhead rod. I like it because it keeps the line out of the water and allows a good drift. After using a longer rod I can hardly go back to a 8 1/2 footer. Hope this might help. Tightlines. Rain is coming soon!

Although you may already be aware of this, a con for the noodle rod is some fisherman claim the limberness of the pole and the usually lighter line and drag can more thoroughly tire the fish out before it is landed, which could make it tougher for a C&R fish to regain its strength. There also is a 10ft Bill Herzog (spoon fishing author) special edition pole produced by I believe Lamiglas that is slightly more rigid. Of course you can also have poles designed long with almost any line weight you request.

Incidently, I catch fish from trout to chinook all year long using mortac's stilly spoons in silver (mostly #1 & #2s), while my Pentac BC steels are stored away waitting for the Methow to re-open for steelhead.

I hope this helps.

Anyone know somebody who would be willing to part with a b.c. steel. I doubt anyone is but just asking.

10'6"lami custom pro works good for me. It will cost alot less (half) than the herzog special.
You ned the extra stiffness of these rods. It might make for a fun battle, but not if you want to release a fish

While on the subject of spoons. I was visiting my wife grandparents in Sept, they have a place on Lake Harrison B.C.
I went to the sporting good store in downtown Agiazz and bought some pretty awsome looking spoons that I am dying to try.
153. Have you ever seen the Gibbs IRONHEAD,
spoon. They come in genuine gold and silver plating. They look somwhat like a cleo but thicker. Then I bought some Gibbs COHOs which look like an awsome spoon. What was awsome about this whole ordeal was the exchange rate. My price in american funds was 2.50 each. Onother item that I saw was a pole that is put out by Berkley for the B.C. Fisherman called the B.C. special. 85.00 dollers Canadian this pole resembles some of the G Loomis that I have seen the shop owner said they are sold before they hi the rack.
The Barrys Bait and TACKLE Site sells alot of these spoons. I was wondering if anyone has ever used a gibbs product?
Thank You.

Like the other posts said you need more backbone when fishing with spoons. I use single siwash hooks on my spoons, and you really need the extra backbone to drive these large hooks home. Good Fishing!
