I remember my 2-3 pack a day grandma (lived to 94 and was wishing to go for most of that last 10) trying to quit and having terrible rashes and fever and headaches. Seems like that could really mess you up on top of a novel disease.

Also reminds of how they used to keep liquor in hospitals because people literally died from withdrawals. Maybe get so nicotine patches in case you get your lungs swamped.

I use those little tic-tac nico lozenges and I'm feeling great. I've been reading that the order of most impacted to least impacted is 1) ex smokers 2) current smokers 3) never smoked. I guess ex smokers lungs have cleared enough that it exposes the previous damage done. Current smokers still have tar build up and that may help prevent the virus from attaching. Or some BS like that - who knows?

Virus or not - I gotta keep movin' forward. It's my last, true bad habit and I've beaten everything else. I have pretty strong will power once I set my mind to something. From a chick standpoint, you immediately eliminate 90%+ of targets by smoking. I wouldn't date a smoker, so why would I expect one to date me? Plus the money, health, wasted time. Good news, is I'm pretty fit and in decent / good shape overall. It doesn't take me much to get into really good shape. That's phase 2...
