What type of rod is better for what types of fishing? For example drifting, or back trolling?

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

I think graphite is your best choice for most applications, although different modulus ratings apply to different methods. I know some guy prefer glass rods when pulling plugs because they don't snap back so quickly when a fish pulls the rod down. I don't own any glass rods anymore, but I don't pull plugs much either. I still remember that pulsing feeling a glass rod has though. smile

Hey Dan S., plug pulling is for plug monkeys, but I don't think you'd mind if I rowed 'em for us, eh? wink

RipDatlip, a lot of guys are going to fiberglass for plug pulling. I've been running fiberglass and doing well but I've also found that a little lighter graphite stick works well too. My Allstar 901's are killer plugging sticks. Peace

Okay, I have another question still. What are the old Grizzley manufactured rods made out of? This company has long been out of buisness but the family has many of these rods.
If I was only to buy one rod, I should go with a graphite? Most of my fishing is bobber or drifting so it sounds like this should work.

I would go with whatever you feel most confident in because that's what is all about "confidence".

For bobber and drift fishing I'd say to go with a higher modulus graphite rod.

Catcher1, I'm almost better just a few more days and I'll be back to normal. They wanted to put in the hospital and I said "No way, Doc, don't you know who I am? I'm Kid Sauk and I've got fish to slay!!!"

Makes perfectly good sense to use glass for pluggin and I for one am going to try it this winter. Seems the boys in the salt who know use em on there riggers.
Now, Help me on this one, please? Pinch it at the top before you roll it down,-hmmmm
Is that like taking two pensils and twisting both lips up, with the pensils vertical, giving a good yank on the pensils, and letting those suckers beat your face to death. OH, It's not? OK, whatever-god I hate it when she works nights! frown
eggy is almost spankin eek eek

now how did that go ,pinch it on top? wink

How about northriver or northernriver custom rods? They are much cheaper than g-loomis and are made from the same blank. They also have the same lifetime warranty. (So, I've been told). Are they worth looking into?
