What type of rod is better for what types of fishing? For example drifting, or back trolling?

Hey Dan S., plug pulling is for plug monkeys, but I don't think you'd mind if I rowed 'em for us, eh? RipDatlip, a lot of guys are going to fiberglass for plug pulling. I've been running fiberglass and doing well but I've also found that a little lighter graphite stick works well too. My Allstar 901's are killer plugging sticks. Peace

Okay, I have another question still. What are the old Grizzley manufactured rods made out of? This company has long been out of buisness but the family has many of these rods. If I was only to buy one rod, I should go with a graphite? Most of my fishing is bobber or drifting so it sounds like this should work.

I would go with whatever you feel most confident in because that's what is all about "confidence". _____________________________________________ Hey Justin Glad to here your feeling better. Maybe we can hook up for some fishing Monday because that will be the last day I have free. FISH ON!!! :p

For bobber and drift fishing I'd say to go with a higher modulus graphite rod.
Catcher1, I'm almost better just a few more days and I'll be back to normal. They wanted to put in the hospital and I said "No way, Doc, don't you know who I am? I'm Kid Sauk and I've got fish to slay!!!"

Makes perfectly good sense to use glass for pluggin and I for one am going to try it this winter. Seems the boys in the salt who know use em on there riggers. Now, Help me on this one, please? Pinch it at the top before you roll it down,-hmmmm Is that like taking two pensils and twisting both lips up, with the pensils vertical, giving a good yank on the pensils, and letting those suckers beat your face to death. OH, It's not? OK, whatever-god I hate it when she works nights! eggy is almost spankin now how did that go ,pinch it on top?

OL, Kid Sauk I bet if it was a Hot little nurse in a short skirt you would be asking for mouth to mouth. :p So do you think that this Monday will work for you? I hope so because I am getting fishing fever and I might ned that nurse. I guess the Skagit is up a little after the rain storm but that should just bring more fish for me to catch... Oh are you able to talk on the Phone tonight? FISH ON!!! :p [ 08-23-2001: Message edited by: catcher1 ]

Catcher1, A hot nurse and a morphine drip sound like fun Especially if she'll give me a sponge bath Give me a call or e-mail tomorrow and we'll talk. Still don't have much for a voice as of late. Tired of being "Kid Sick" time to go back to being Kid Sauk. Remember that Kid Sauk is not just a legendary fishing figure.....he is an icon. Gosh, I'm getting a big head now, must be all the pain meds getting to me Just kidding about the icon stuff, guys, don't panic, k?

How about northriver or northernriver custom rods? They are much cheaper than g-loomis and are made from the same blank. They also have the same lifetime warranty. (So, I've been told). Are they worth looking into?
