Hey, C1, the perfect all-around rod and reel combo that's probably in your price range would be an Allstar 1025c with a Curado super free reel. Got 4 of those setups and they rock!!!

Don't know about Monday yet, C1, heading out right now for Olympia. I'll shoot you an e-mail later tonight from Fly's house. Peace

In the mean time, remember that the best rods for the money are Allstar, Allstar, and of course Allstar laugh laugh laugh

It really sort of depends on what you're going to use the rod for. I've yet to find a "perect" all around rod. Here's what I like to use.... For Steelhead and for small water, I use a G. Loomis #1141 (9'6") with a Cardinal # 3 spinning reel.... Not one of the new Cardinals, the old green ones. If I'm fishing heavier water, or if the fish are a bit larger, I like to use a GL2 in a 9' length with a Cardinal #4 spinning reel. If we're talking casting rods, I really think it's hard to beat a Lamiglas 8'6" medium action rod with one of the older Shimano Bantams in a size 200. Or if that's too light for what you're going to be doing, try a Lamiglas 8'6" Medium/Heavy action drift rod paired up with a Shimano Calcutta 250. These are my four "Stand By" rods. I use the lighter, spinning rods for Steelhead, and for small water type fishing in general. The other, Heavier rods mainly get used for Chinook and for the larger Silvers as well as for Chum. Of course there are times, when conditions dictate, that I will use the heavier rods for Steelhead as well (If it's big water, or if I'm fishing a c&r fishery) Anyway, I hope that this helps a bit.

Do you have a website for them Allstar rods, Kid? Also, where are they available-G.I. Joes or Fisherman's Marine, possibly? I don't need another rod anytime soon, but in the future, maybe. wink

just joking with catcher1 flick, sorry if i disturbed you.i use medium action lami's ambassador 5500c3 reels for fall and winter fish.have several northwest specials in various actions and weights.i like the daiwa procaster reels for summer fish, also okuma spinning reels for free drifting and such.probably use the lami 1000 series 10 to 20lb.with the 5500c3 if i had to choose 1 setup for year round fishing. smile scott
