Cindy Sheehan asked President Bush, "Why did my son have to die in Iraq?"
Another mother asked President Kennedy, "Why did my son have to die in Viet Nam?"
Another mother asked President Truman, "Why did my son have to die in Korea?"
Another mother asked President F.D. Roosevelt, "Why did my son have to die at Iwo Jima?"
Another mother asked President W. Wilson, "Why did my son have to die on the battlefield of France?"
Yet another mother asked President Lincoln, "Why did my son have to die at Gettysburg?"
And yet another mother asked President G. Washington, "Why did my son have to die near Valley Forge?"
Then, long, long ago, a mother asked, "Heavenly Father, why did my Son have to die on a cross outside of Jerusalem?"
The answers to all these are similar -- "that others may have life and dwell in peace, happiness and freedom."
Imagine that.

That's not why we are in Iraq. Freedom had nothing to do with it. Bush just wants you to think so now that he can't find the WMD's or concrete proof of a link to Bin Ladin. And before you say any thing, if there was proof you would be hearing about it from the White House. Not Drudge of some other rinky dink little source.

A better question is why you continue to drink the Bushy kool aid?
Freedom is on the march! We are free to spy on you and call you an enemy combatant, and that's when we are really free to do what we want with you...

Simm'ah down young man you'll blow your blow hole right off. There isn't any secret conspiracy to remove power from the people and put it in the hands of an American aristocracy. No, secret at all, it's out in the wide open. As long as Americans continue to bypass the news in favor of Wrestlemania, as long as people in Yelm continue to drink Keystone Ice and Milwaukees Best, as long "COPS" is the reality TV closest to urban reality, I've got little hope for this country. How else would a bunghole like GW get promoted from village idiot to the White House? By a pathetically uninformed electorate.

From the earliest days of the republic until the age of TV, all politics was face to face. No one could become a candidate of a political party without passing muster with thousands of people in face to face encounters. Campaigns themselves were face to face. Candidates traveled the country making speechs (which they mostly wrote themselves), debating, talking with voters and other politicians in formal and social situations. Candidates had no choice but to allow themselves to be evaluated by thousands of people, face to face. It was only after TV had been around for awhile that it was discovered that face to face politics could be dispensed with and candidates could be packaged and sold to the voters as something other than what they were. George Bush, privileged son of a wealthy eastern family, Andover , Yale (Skull and Bones), was packaged and sold to the voters as a Texas cowboy. TV has changed politics. A media creation is routinely sold in a political campaign as if it were a real person.

101, a little history lession for you. Things are never as simple as you think. http://www.socialstudieshelp.com/Lesson_72_Notes.htm As for WWII http://www.socialstudieshelp.com/USRA_WWII_Begins.htm Saving a little time here the civil war was fought to preserve the union. Aix and it would seem yourself want to belive the reason is something else but it just isn't so. We entered Vietnam because we wrongly felt the if Vietnam fell to communism, all of Southeast Asia would. This has been proven to be incorrect. Reasons for the Korean war http://www.fsmitha.com/h2/ch24kor.html I will not even bother with explaining anything about the revolutionary war. Because if you really think that was the reason then there just isn't any use to.

Aix,
You really should give credit when you post someone elses writings. I'm sure you never meant to give the impression you wrote such a banal little bit of poetry all on your own. I mean if your going to plagarize something, at least steal something worthwhile. Don't be the literary equivalent of the bag lady trying to shoplift lettuce.
BW,
I didn't know historians had come to anything approaching a general consensus on the nature of the American Revolution. But I'm in ageement it was alot more complicated then simply about "peace, happiness, and freedom".

It may seem like a strange post to you, Lupo, because you are into history, facts and issues. The 40% of the population that are still Bush supporters aren't into history, facts or issues. They are into feelings. I imagine strong feelings would be triggered in in many of them by reading the post. Here's a factoid for you: Most Bush supporters know zero about Karl Rove. If you get a chance, ask a Bushie about Karl Rove.

Yeah, Rove/Bush really did a smear on McCain in the primaries. And now McCain is sucking up to them.
He wants their support in 2008. :p
