Fishgal and I did make itr up here safe and sound ... been going, going, going the last few days since we got in.
Super weather up here, a little chilly in the AM's, but nice in the afternoons. In fact, it was in the 70's yesterday afternoon while we made run back to Anchorage to Costco.
Thought we'd share a few moments of AK life in May:
Literally within hours of arrival, we were on the river, and it took just a few minutes to find our first kinger of the season:
Things seem to be about normal for fish so far, still pretty spotty, but a few more fish every day and things should be up and running in full swing within a week or so
We weren't able to dig last Saturday which was the lowest tide in a number of years, but we snuck out Sunday for some digging and Fishgal is now known as Clamgal!
And we got to enjoy a day on the golf course with our halibut captain, Bill, and Mike (below) who is our "CC processing man":
Talking with the grenns fella on the course, this is the first time in memory that he's actually had to cut grass in May ... as you can see from the pic, it's no Augusta, but it's far and away the nicest shape I've seen the course in this timeframe, should be very nice later in the summer!
We'll share some road trip pix before too long ... and we'll, probably sneak out on the river as well for a little more fishing too
Might even have some bear hunting pix before too long!
