Another way to look at it also is the fact that most of the resources, be it Fish, Timber, etc. that we have to use in this country are and have been going to other countries that have raped their own resources to their end.... Now they pay th big $$ to get our resources. Although most will say it would never work, and our economy would collapse if it were the case, I say KEEP OUR RESOURCES IN OUR OWN COUNTRY!!!
Someone said in another post that the indians in Hoods Canal were selling their crab to Canadian buyers. What is wrong with that friggin picture? Don't they have their own water to plunder?
Remember the good ole' days when all you had to do to get good, cheap roe, was to go to any cannery and they practically gave the stuff to you? Then the Japanese had to find something new to eat and began paying up to $30.00/lb wholesale for the roe (Back in the late 70's). Adios to the great resource for fishing roe.....

If it is a limited harvestable resource, no out of country sales...... PERIOD!
How about the timber companies (whiners also) selling the raw logs to overseas markets, where they turned it into product and sold it back to us...... We are gonna lose this country folks if it keeps up like this....

The japs have not raped there raw materials,THEY HAVE NONE.They do have the buying power to pay the top dollar. If you sell your car,who you going to sell it to?The guy that gives you the most!!!!!

As far as there appetite for sea food,it has always been there.Once again look at there population. As there buying power became stronger so did the overseas market for our seafood.Look at the size of the country compared t the population!!!

once again too many people is the root of the problem.

Not to be too flaming cleo, but WTF? Just because they have little or no fish swimming in their waters means we have to sell to them? No, it is only because of the $$....... Therefore it is not too many people, it is too much greed. They would not starve to death if we did not sell our resources to them.
That is the problem in this country. From Capitol hill on down, Americans will sell their country out for their own personal gain. This is what has changed about the common man in this country over the last 60 years....... I say, let em eat seaweed that they get on their own beach!
Oh, and you think that because of overpopulation the Canadians are down here buying "our" crab, or could it be that they want to save their resource for themselves?
