I have never been out for humpries but it sound smokin' right now. I was going to take the kids out tomorrow. I can see by other post what to use. Where is the best place to launch? How crazy is it? I was thinking of Mukelito at about 6am, what can I expect?

Thanks

Dont feel like you have to be there bright and early to catch humpies. You could avaoid the morning rush at the ramp by getting there a bit later.

Mukilteo is the closest place, but it isnt too far of a run from the Everett Launch, which is $5.00

Be Ready to pony up the $10.00 !!!!!!!! That the city of Mukilteo wants to charge now for their POS launch.

If you go to Mukilteo, you should have a 4-wheel drive. I pull my 22' boat with a full size van and was having difficulty getting tracksion on their ramp, as it is full of sand. If you go on a weekend, especially this one, good luck parkign at Mukilteo. Everett has way more parking, but it is getting full too. I always go in the afternoon and am always able to find a spot to park my rig at Everett and have never had difficulty launching.

Humpy Hollow is right out in front of Meadowdale, by the "famous shipwreck" across from Possession Pt. It's quite a ways away from the San Juans. Providing the fog lifts and you don't run into a bunch of tribal netters out by San Juan Island, you should have a good trip!

Thanks Jeff. Think I'll stop by tomorrow and put the wife on a few before we head north!

I use the Shilshole launch just because it's closer to home. No more parking (less, actually) but convenient and no ferry rollers bashing you against the dock and other boats.
Chip....I was in the islands over the weekend and fished the SW side of Henry Isl, just outside of Roche Harbor. Open Bay is the area and couldn't keep the humpies off my line.
Trolling a small green hotspot and small pink hoochie 22in back. Got it down with a small deepsix 30 pulls. When the bite cooled, a splat of herring oil is all it took to heat back up.
Great crabbing around Roche also.
PM me for more, if you want it.

For those who want a nice treat you can use the Edmonds sling. It will set you back $27 which includes parking.

I would like to personally thank the City of Mukilteo for the outstanding job they are doing using our $10 a pop to maintain the ramp. Only 6-8" of sand and gravel on the lower 2/3 rds of the ramp. You'd think with 100+ boat launches on a weekend day (that's $1000 per day by my math) they could spring to pay a couple guys to clear the ramp of gravel. In a word - shameful. huh

For those that live up North, Tulalip has a new dock and it's not as crowded. Bigger boats have to watch the tide but for the smaller boats it's the best option and the Humpies are just outside the bay.

Mukilteo is not great on the outside lane but the middle two are okay. Went out a 7 and back by 10. Never made it down to shipwreck, fish were everywhere till about 9.

Launch at the port of everett and run south. On a fairly calm day you will be there in no time fishing with way less hasle. On a minus tide you probably wont be pulling your boat out of that junk heap ripofff of a launch at cool
Mukilteo.
