While having a short lived conversation with a co-worker about this topic, I Googled and found this. I am not too up on this topic, so I was hoping that perhaps, someone could shed some good light or good reasons as to WHY? Is there ANY good reason?

I'm opposed. I think Israel should be sending foreign aid to the United States, if anything, in this twisted relationship. Somehow that doesn't gain any political traction. But as an alternative, I advocated giving the Palestinians, $ for $, the same aid we give Israel, thinking that by leveling the playing field, they might blow each other to smitereens, and the U.S. would then be rid of two big pains in the A$$. As sensible as that one is, it doesn't gain any political traction either.

As the country lies in what is considered to be the heart of Christiandom, providing funds to Israel is a big item amongst alot of the Chrstians. That and the fact there are a lot of folks in this country with Jewish heritage and a lot give tons of money to political candidates.

It pisses me off to no end. It is a classic example of blind U.S. foreign policy that makes us countless enemies because of our bias.

The American Jews are a very powerful group on the East Coast and no one will cross them. Plus, the Jews have been pounded on for centuries, they did not deserve it them and do not now.
And unless you have been there and talked to the average Jew, you do not understand what the reasoning behind some of the problems.
I have been going there for years on business and most jews will tell you it is 1% of the Orthodox jews causing most of the problems, which is pretty much like any country!!
Heck, many I have talked to have never been to Jerusalem (30 minutes away) and they have lived there all their lives, they just want to be left alone and are just happen to be Jewish.

Another reason we pay off the israelies is to keep them from destroying the sandbox. We do not want isreal involved in a war over there, the global ramifications would be huge to say the least. WWIII at a minimum, no esta bueno.

So essentially what I am gathering is that, in a nutshell, there is no damn good reason. Sure glad I found one more reason to be pissed off at our gubment.

Yes, I'm annoyed. I think we should treat the Israelis and arabs equally in terms of military aid and then urge them to annihilate one another, ridding ourselves of two of our biggest international problems. Remember, nations don't have friends. Nations have interests. And I'm a problem solver by nature.
