No FB for me either Sol Duc...mainly because every time I see my sister she tells me that so and so (usually some dumbass from HS that I don't want to ever see, talk to, or think about ever again) wants to "get in touch with me". No thanks.

I do use text messaging however...but usually only to coordinate fishing trips, get fishing reports, or send fish pictures to my friends that are working at the time.... grin

I'll admit I'm on facebook. The reason I like it as I can keep closer contact with my family that is spread out and see recent pics of the kids - Son in Ohio, Granddaughter in Texas, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends in Thurston, Clallam, Whatcom, WallaWalla, Eugene, Pullman, Montana, Maine, Arizona, Cameroon West Africa and the list goes on. I've turned down lots of requests to be 'friends'. Everybody I'm connected with I really care about. I like it for that reason. I just spent 10 minutes IMing with my 15 yr old Granddaughter about the White Stripes, her favorite band, breaking up. She wasn't aware of Jack White's other projects. Something we may not have connected about without it. At 65 yrs. old, I enjoy any communication with her and the rest of my extended crew as my time is short.....

I joined FB a couple years ago so I could look at my oldest daughter's vacation photos that she put on her page. But otherwise I haven't figured out how to use it or even put my own profile photograph on my page. Ripley emailed me and sarcastically commented that I must take FB real seriously. If I understood it enough to use it I might because my kids use it a lot, and it might be an easier way to stay connected with them. It seems like they mainly text and use FB. I use the telephone and email and can wait days sometimes to hear back from them on those obsolete - to them- communications media.

i joined that place because a great fishing contact had no phone. he would never answer emails... but would send repeated requests to join him on FB. so i did very reluctantly. i'm a bigger jerk on FB than i am over here.

I can't believe that for a second.

I signed up for FB to push our chapters agenda and immediately got contacted by people from HS and about 25 relatives, finally turned everything off when I got the umpteenth request to do this or that for somebodies FB farm stuff. Why would anyone get on there to do farm [censored]?

Not a fan, don't FB me,ever!

I first got my account in College when it first came out, it was initially made as a wide area network for College kids to meet each other and communicate within the campus, then it went global and crapped its pants... still a great place to meed single ladies though!

I have FB, but it is causing me some problems so I may end up getting off of it. I think it is great to see the pictures from my friends and family and I really enjoy that. The problem I have is when someone sends me a friend request, and I really have no interest in their BS, so I don't become their FB friend.

I ran into two people in one week (last week) who I did not approve of as a friend. First was a clown from high school who I barely remember (I didn't recognize his last name when the request came through). I thought "why would I care what this guy is up to" and then I ran into him at a gas station. He said "I saw you on Facebook" then looked forlornly at the ground.

Then last Friday I was approached by a girl, I didn't even know who she was, but she new me somehow. She just blatantly asked me why I denied her on FB (twice), and I said "I don't know you.". That was (apparently) very offensive to her, and I generally try to be a well respected man about town.

FB is adding a whole other dimension to society, and it may not work for me and how I prefer to treat people or create my network.

i've been very successfull at keeping my firends number to dry bones. i've learned to be blatant when refusing requests. it really works. i take things that i got from Danny. for example, i replyed back this way.

i don't got time for you or anyone elses chickenshit buuulshit!!!!

I know I'm missing out on a lot of good fishing reports (and other things) from not being in the FB community, but I'm still able to sleep just fine every night. Last time I saw Addicted I asked why I never see him on PP anymore. His response? "All I need is Facebook".

First there was Myspace, now it's Facebook. Just like everything else, I'm sure there will be something new and improved within the next year...maybe I'll jump on that bandwagon when the time comes.

Would still like to see the movie "The Social Network" however....

the issue here isn't what FB is good for but the problems. i have never been on any site where people come out of the woodwork to suddenly ask for fresh friendships. so in one way the fishing boards are nothing like FB. how many guys/gals from PP have had a old girlfriend track them down here? how many have a distant cousin find them here?

Brewer, just use Fister's mug shot for your Facebook photo; it'll cut down on your friend requests considerably.

When I was in the 6Th grade I feel in love with this gal. That was 31 years ago.

A year and a half ago she got a hold of me through my oldest boy's FB page.

Sent her some pictures of my family, and said send me some of yours..... she never replied again.

I guess that's what happens when you marry a trophy wife. While being a bald ugly dude. smile

I am a very casual FB'er. What I don't get is why some people who I barely knew 30 years ago, had no common interests with, and even downright didn't like would look me up and now and send a friend request? It must just be a popularity thing to see how many friends you can get. I told myself when I started I would never send a friend request but I think I've sent maybe one or two.

I joined Facebook cause i was on this Forum and to the right of the page i noticed that a ton of people who were on here were doing it...so i joined to start playing farmville cause my freinds were also and in the winter and where they live there is not much more to do but ice fish..

i dont see many people that talk about fishing... i now have two accounts...i dont just play farmville...although that is why i started...i got into playing Mafia Wars...i enjoyed playing Mafia so much that i started a second character that is only for mafia and i usually dont accept anyone that doesnt play mafia as a freind if i can help it

i do have people contact me...i have a few thousand fb freinds i prob really only know 50-60 people...i didnt start it to connect with freinds and i turn my chat off because i DONT want to talk to people...sometimes ill turn it on for a min to talk to my best freind real quick and forget to turn chat off and its like a circus i have suddenly 3 or 4 people trying to talk to me, like they have some sensor i have my chat on...

for me facebook has been fun..but only cause i play two games...there was not much for me to do when i has shoulder surgery..five months of being very bored..besides physical thearapy and taking a walk everyday i was BORED out of my mind...for anyone new to facebook you can block all of the games you see people playing and if you decide later that you want to play that game you can get the posts back...you can block seeing people that you are freinds with..

if someone really wants to talk to me they send me a message..im on fb everyday, and im more likely to see your message on fb then i would see your email...my emails are all junk mail most of the time and fb is normally just people getting ahold of me smile

Yeah I agree with BWP.

The amount of fvcktards that think FB is "church" is mindnumbing.

A few weeks ago after getting soused and spouting off a bunch of schit on here I got onto FB and schitcanned a whole lot of 'friends' that did nothing but post prayer requests, gospel crap, pity parties, and trying to plug their stupid failing businesses & pyramid schemes.

Then I passed out and woke up feeling great.
