The rotor wash from the chinooks is pretty amazing. I have a picture somewhere taken from 17k on Denali looking down at the 14k camp when a chinook landed to pick up and injured climber. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Impending doom!  The photo quality sucks as I was 2 miles and 3000 feet away, but gives you an idea of the scale. 100mph whitewash wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't below zero.

The slogan of one of the local Denali air taxi's is "Fly an hour or walk a week." Pretty easy decision for most.

CH-47 is a great machine.
The belly hooks on the CH-47 (Charlie and delta series) are rated for 20,000 pounds. Mind boggling the loads those things can haul. One carries an 800 gallon fuel cell that you can shoot full of .50 cal holes and it won't leak. Cool.
