Hello fellow fishers and wishers....As I had said in my previous post, I am giving a report of the Queets. We had a tandem of drift-boats and fishermen who had limited success as far as catch ratios go. But, we had a great time together and we did manage a couple hook-ups and releases (one was long distance) We talked to others who had no success at all.
The road is still closed to the campground and the river has changed, with many of the good holes washed out or shallow. The river only had about 6 inches of visability(Maybe), and was on the rise with all the huge downpours that were happening every 20 minutes.
With all this rain we are having right now, I don't think that this river will be fishable for a while. And just a note, if you don't have a 4x4, I don't think you will be able to use some of the launches. I tried to in 2 wheel and had to shift to 4 wheel.
Well, time to go restock the Slinky Jar and tie more leaders, as this river loves to eat them!
Good fishin to all-Steve Ng....The FishNg1

Steve,

Did you do the lower drift? My buddies said it was not as good with many of the "old" holes gone, filled in from recent flooding. Kind of like you describe.

Also, does anyone know if the middle float is still possible? This would be from Streaters to Hartzell. I was mainly wondering if the washout was above here.

Thanks!

Eric

Eric, we did the middle float, with most of the good water from the launch to just below the clay-banks. The rest of the float is real wide open and non-descript, kinda hard to fish, especially with the high water. The wash-out is above streaters, there are warning signs, we had wanted to go look and see if a four wheel vehicle could navigate the wash-out but we ran out of time. Of course we fished till it was almost dark, you know us die-hards. Most everyone else seemed to be floating the lower drift.
Maybe the weather will cooperate and we can try again, or maybe the Clearwater.
