The crime should be giving these people glory in the media. Let's limit the standard because of the action of the exceptions . If every gun disappeared off the face of the earth people would find ways to kill others as they always have. Just a few weeks ago a couple of crazies drove their cars through a crowd in china and killed 31 people. This week some stoned bitch sends 8 to the hospital after crashing on highway 2. You have a higher probability of getting whacked by someone who decides to hit the bar for a few Friday beers with his coworkers and get behind the wheel to drive home than you do random gun violence. You never hear boo about that on the national news. Let's make it a law that if you decide to use alcohol you forfeit the privilege to drive? No one would support that but stats show it would save at least 12k lives a year.

Drive-by shooting.

(1) A person is guilty of drive-by shooting when he or she recklessly discharges a firearm as defined in RCW 9.41.010 in a manner which creates a substantial risk of death or serious physical injury to another person and the discharge is either from a motor vehicle or from the immediate area of a motor vehicle that was used to transport the shooter or the firearm, or both, to the scene of the discharge.

(2) A person who unlawfully discharges a firearm from a moving motor vehicle may be inferred to have engaged in reckless conduct, unless the discharge is shown by evidence satisfactory to the trier of fact to have been made without such recklessness.

(3) Drive-by shooting is a class B felony.

Maybe the media outlets should each be allowed one story one time on a shooting event. Subsequent stories or repeating the story gets them charged with "inciting another shooting."

Because mass shootings are carried out by white males between the age of 15 and 30.

I've been a long time advocate of ghetto schools offering firearm safety training and marksmanship as mandatory classes so that more intended targets would be hit and fewer innocent bystanders. But that's gone over about as well as my suggestion that gang membership be cause for immediate execution whenever observed by LEO, due to gangs having no socially redeeming value beyond the drug profits of the gangs themselves.

I would suggest a tiered system. Roughly like this.

1. See a mental health professionsal. 1 point

2. On psychoactive drugs. 1 point

3. Hit the threat meter of a mental health professional. 1-3 points

Points of 3 or more get you noticed and inspected by LEO. 5 points, you hit the list and it takes a lot of work to get removed from the list.

All medical records are moving online/cloud, tracking is already in place for some items. Tracked by mental health professionals.

Nothing is 100% perfect, and it is and it will be impossible to keep firearms out of the hands of someone determined to get one. It is a start, though, and it tramples on the rights of a lot fewer people.

There would definitely need to be some protections written in for HIPPA and constitutional protections for people who may lose their rights, but as a gun owner and an active gun rights advocate, we can not just keep allowing these events to go on unabated.

Lest you doubt my sincerity as a gun rights advocate, in the last few years I have been actively involved in regaining the rights for Washingtonians to be able to use suppressors and short barreled rifles. My form 4 goes out to the ATF on Thursday for my 14.5" SBR'd AR 15.

there hasnt been a shooting... yet... but there was a police chase in L.A., and a guy jumped out of the car with an assault rifle and went up on a roof for a bit, now he is holed up inside a house and they dont know where hes at...
