Just wondering if theres any ladies out there that like to flyfish or even fish?
I know that that might sound cheasy but Im 18 years old and finding a woman close to my age that likes to fish, or would even like to learn how to fish is extremley difficult.

I couldnt think of a date I would enjoy more than one out on the river.

Any guys have any sugjestions or stories of how they got their women on the water?

Fun Fishing- Josh
P.S.- Dads please take your daughters out and teach how

Hey, I know a gorgeous 20 year old female who loves to fish, but too bad, she's my girlfriend. She used to fish with her Dad in the sound, so was an easy conversion to rivers. I'm in process of getting her into her first steelie. She loves to float the rivers and she's even taken out my 9ft cataraft a few times. I'd suggest looking around a bit. It's definitely a plus having your significant other loving to do what you love to do. My marriage went sour do to my ex being a certified city slicker and I'm an outdoorsman. Now my girlfriend wants me to teach her how to hunt, I'm in H E A V E N!!! Just keep looking, you'll get your match. Make sure she's REALLY trying to fish and not trying to impress you. My ex did that. Then once I put the gold band on the hand, fishing was a four letter word. So, be careful and good luck. I've found my match.

Fly guy' good luck in your search, plan on staying single for awhile. I didn't find my mermaid until I was 25 odly enough it was at a boat ramp, she was just checking out the fishing and we were just coming in with 6 nice kings 15 to 30 lbs. Seemed to work better than a flashy car on this one. Not really sure how the subject of a date came up but it did and it was to go fishing. We limited on king salmon same old stuff 15 to 30 lbs. appears as though we both got what we were looking for.

Fly Guy: If I were young again, I'd hang out in the biology department at the local college (I assume Western has that program). Seem to be lots of nice, outdoorsy gals getting into that field, who should be great fly fisher candidates.
Weren't you looking for a job in a fly shop a while back? That has possibilities too, even if you have to "volunteer" as an "intern." Good luck!
p.s. Good point, above, about women who will "bait and switch." My ex "planted" a fly rod in her car when we were going to first meet. I was hooked, and found out too late that she didn't know which end to put the reel on!

Try pinkcorky she loves to fish and she looks at this forum every once in a while and she is the captain of the cheer squad at her high school. She is also beautiful, I might add.

P.S. good luck

My wife hates fishing because her parents took her and her sisters to the river all the time. When we met she took me to meet her parents. Her dad started talking about steelhead fishing. I wasn't into fishing at the time. After we married, I started to fish with him. Then I started to catch fish.

If you can't find a fisherwomen, find a lady with a good fishing father.

OK, this thread has me thrown for a loop. I don't know how to respond. ("Email me Pink Corky's phone number" was one thought. I'll send her the plane tix to Singapore, pronto.) But then again I once was in love with Hawk's college friend's date for a while . . . she didn't look like Pink Corky either.

Here's the straight shot: you can live a deliriously happy 'other life' if your woman doesn't fish, has no interest in fishing and doesn't want to be persuaded. I have been chained to Flipper (Wife's nickname: no kidding. Don't ask.) for 15 years. She hates fishing. I can't think of a worse day than taking her fishing, setting her up on the prime drift, getting her competent with the spinning rig and then hotfooting up or downstream only to hear "Honey! My line's all tangled!" or "I'm cold! I want to go back to the Lodge." ("Woman! Don't make me choose because you are gonna loose!" is my certain response.)

I lost a real honey of a girlfriend in college who had many, many admirable qualities but she faked wanting to fish. First fishing date with Beth was the last date. I tried to mix pleasure with pleasure and it backfired.

What you're looking for is someone who is genuinely fishing tolerant. (Yes, yes, ideally she'll also love fishing, but unless Steelheader69 is sharing that isn't likely, is it?) She has to know that men all have one or more obsessions. Yours is fishing, not crack or stealing cars or gambling. In short, you're not so bad (in her eyes). You make it clear that fishing is non-negotiable, and then never back down. It can work but she has to know the rules right at the outset.

Of course, hang out at the Biology Dept, the boat ramp and the tackle shop too but don't limit yourself to these spots as the competition is fierce and the pickin's likely to be slender. (Although if you have to meet a flyfisher gal, I'd recommend the Yellowstone area in July-Sept. though few of them will be in your age group.)

Good luck, and be certain to share your experiences with the Board.

My old lady is the little sister of a guide so she understands that going fishing is a need not a want so as long as the lawn is mowed she will evry selldonly make plans that will pervent me from haveing my time on the river.

I'm 22 myself, and when I return to Bellingham in September, I'm enrolling in a Biology class at Western. I'll dig up the available Biology classes post them on this site. Anybody else care to join me?

Unless you actually see the woman fishing, and meet her out there, she's not a fisherperson.... no matter what she says! They all want to go fishing when you first meet them, In fact they are fishing, and I wont tell what the lure is! Once the ring is on, she'll punish you everytime you go fishing in one way or another! My best freind had been fishing and hunting since childhood, he got married, and was "forced" to quit completely.(she'd go out and spend lots of $$$ if he went out). He even got in trouble for coming home at 10:30 AM on opening day! She didn't talk to him for days! Do yourself a favor find a woman that enjoys the fact you'd rather be out fishing than chasing other women and drinking! AND... Earn your brownie points when the fishing is slow, take her out somewhere nice when the bite is off! PS: If my wife asks, I'll deny I ever said this!!!

Although what most of you might think, I love to go fishing...it is my boyfriend's favorite hobby and I like to accompany him through his adventures. It is so relaxing... Yes, sometimes I would rather be out of the rain, but when you catch the big one, it is great. I'm completely satisfied with the fishing arrangement in our relationship. I just wish that he would take me MORE...

Western is a mistake. If you enroll in biology youll be surrounded by mostly granolas, who hate fishing. My wife graduated from huxley, She was always telling me about the arrogant rich, granolas!
The yellowstone idea is the best duggestion yet!

Hey guys, my sisters single and loves to fish. She hooked her first steelie her first time out, plus she played a nice 20lb perfectly. She will stay through the rain and the cold knowing thats part of the program. Plus she'll pee outside or on the boat. That's the true test for a fisherchick.

Of course if she ever finds out I posted this, I'm going to have some gatsus where the sun don't shine.

Woman who fish, and love it in all types of conditions, are out there. But good luck finding them. I have found a couple, but then again I'm 34 an still single and so my older fishing buds.... P

As most of you fellow married guys know, you can gain husband/fishing points, 1 point at a time, no matter what the heroics. On the other hand, you can loose a boatload of points on 1 single screw up and there is no limit to how many you can loose. It all depends on how bad you screw up.
Some of you know exactly what I mean or what I'm talking about!
Kev - enough points in the bank to go fishing at Sekiu in 2 weeks.

Hell, if you can find one that looks better than a two week old chum..let me know! (just kidding) "fisherchics" are hard to come by, kinda like a 30lb steelie, but who knows? One of us might get lucky and get the catch of our dreams. If all else fails FlyGuy, bring your 5 weight into Hooters and have all of em sighn it...
