I'm so fuc%in pissed off right now I could kill people. I have never allowed my wife or kids to have a dog because they are nothing but a paaaain in the ass. Dog [censored] in the yard and on your shoes, barking, etc. I'm an opressive asshole because of it, too. So what does my wife do while I no longer live in the house that I'm still paying my half of a $2,200/month morgage while I live in a fuc%ing basement elsewhere? She buys a dog. I have been and still am in the process of remodeling the house so we can get it listed for sale, split the equity and part ways, which has included trimming out the entire house with brand new mill work.

I came over today to work, and this piece of shi% dog has chewed up my new molding and plinth blocks at the base of several doors in the house and I'm not even done with it everywhere yet. One bad decision after the next is what I've lived with being married to this woman and I want her out of my life so bad this just drives it home even worse. She says, "she's sorry and she'll fix it, but she can't get rid of the dog." My ass. Just like she "couldn't get rid of the damn parriot," which is now gone BTW. It drove me nuts but it didn't bother her until I wasn't around for it to annoy anymore so she got rid of it after I left.

If you really want to get rid of your problem, I have a couple of burlap sacks, some duct tape, and an old anchor I don't need anymore. You can use them if you want.

I don't know how you'll get rid of that dog though.

Curb your anger problem dude.
By the way...what kind of dog? I might know somebody interested in coming and liberating it from that PETA shelter that used to be your place.
If it's a huntin kinda dog I can be on the next ferry. Just let me know when they are out!

Did Dave just write that? The same guy who kept asking "Who wants to fight me?" Thats kinda funny. The dog eating the molding isn't funny though.

By the way, I had a red headed amazon parrot once. It was delicious.

Borrow a pitbull. Bring it over to "play" with the dog when nobody is home.

My best bud's ex of 17 years made it her life's mission to make his life as miserable as possible when they divorced. She made sure her butt grew to about 4 axehandles across to keep men away so she could devote all her time to farkin' with his mind ..................through the kids, through lawyers, through attempts to get his girlfriend's income listed as "family assets" so she could grab a chunk for herself via fatter child support......he's still dealing with this [censored] to this day.

Hope your parting with her goes smoother than my bud's "D" went Tim............life is too short to be tortured endlessly .

Well as far as THAT goes, if you want to cut to the chase and have your bank accounts emptied and have her use the cash to send for her real husband in Luzon right away, that's a good route to go. At least with your old wife you got a couple decades out of her. That's better than most cars.

She would still be putting up with me if I hadn't pulled the plug and asked for a divorce. She is pretty cool, or at least can be at times. I married the woman, after all. That is what makes this suck so bad.

She says she will take care of getting the damage fixed and pay for it herself. That isn't much consolation for me, as I am currently in the process of trying to finish what the dog seems intent on chewing up so we can sell the damn place and move on with our lives. I don't for one second believe she got the dog to piss me off, and if it was a well manered dog I could care less. I'm just frustrated with her ability to make rational decisions in general, and in particular in the pet department. A Labradoodle? Who gets a Labradoodle? And who keeps it when it's tearing shi% up in the house? Give me a fuc%ing break.

Buying the parriot was a "bad" decision and it was a MAJOR factor in pushing me over the edge in asking for a divorce and wanting the hell out of the house. The fact she got rid of it after I left says volumes about her if you know her like I do, and she doesn't see it. Makes me sad.

I can't be around people that do not see things the way I do, and that includes my friends. I've got the best friends in the world because I say what I think, and the dicks or whathaveyous that can't deal with it or hang get weeded out. It's my process. The binding affect of the marriage licence didn't allow that to occur in my relationship with my wife as we grew and matured over time. In that respect I think marriage in general is a flawed concept in human relations.

When she was a pup, our dog ate a recliner, a couch, and a pair of my slippers.

You know why puppies are cute? Because they HAVE to be. Otherwise there'd be puppy carcasses scattered all over the country side.

Yup, and children are sooooo the same! Just the other night I went lookin for the bottle of scotch (Highlander) that my brother brought back from Scotland for me. I couldn't find it for the life of me. I'm tryin ta remember when the hell I drank a bottle scotch, then my son shows up from school (CW) so I ask him if he's seen it, "OH ya, me and the buddies put that down" he say's. He got ANOTHER quick lesson about stayin the f^#% outa my booze!

"quick lesson about stayin the f^#% outa my booze"
I know that one! I had to have that conversation with my two sons more than once also. First it was my last beer but then I had a 1/2 gallon of Don Quixote rum that disappeared. That did it. I took their car keys and made them ride the bus to high school for a few days. Humbled them right out.
Our adopted son still tells people about the first thing I ever said to him was "Stay the f*ck outta my shiat!"
He was one of those kids that had to pull, push, open and generally mess with everything. Given his background before he was part of our family I'd guess it was just for attention. He sure got attention from me until he realized he was accepted.

Sol - maybe having someone come in a finish up the work for you might be better. Working full time plus working on the house is hard timewise. Given the length of time properties are on the market these days, you may want to get the process started before all the work is finished. Our market hasn't dropped to the extent of others but it's still a lot slower than it was. 4 - 6 months or more is not unusual now days although waterfront is less affected. The money you pay to somebody to do it may be made up by savings on holding costs prior to marketing.

Funny you should suggest that. I had Bucket come over to give me an "estimate," and he gave me an enema, instead. $13,000 to do $7,000 worth of work. I'm genetically incapable of being stupid, so I told him to piss off. I heard tale of my boss telling someone I can do the work of two men in half the time and I suspect he's right. I'm my own victim in that respect.

$6,000 diference which is $3,000. each side. Waiting may cost you more than that in carrying costs during the time on the house in the market.
That's not counting wear and tear on the nerves, an example of which is the reason for your original post.
Just a thought.........

I'm almost done at this point. I've got two bathrooms to tile and install vanitys/granite in and I'll be finished, probably by the middle of Jan. I doubt I could get a reputable contractor with a backlog in and out of there faster than that anyways.

And who gave you the $7,000.00 estimate? If I remember correctly the $7,000 was YOUR estimate. How long have you been in business? What experiance do you have running a business? Do you have a clue as to what it costs to employ someone (above and beyond their pay rate)? Do you have a clue what commercial insurance costs? Do you have a clue what health insurance costs these days?

Get another estimate from a reputable contractor, then slam me on the internet! Hey why dont ya call that contractor that just got busted for fraud, he'll probable be needin the work!

Nice. Bucket's 1,000 post was a slam-o-la on Sol! Good use of post # 1,000

\:D

PS. No one is gonna care if Sol's post # 6,348 is a counter slam-o-la against Parker, so don't even bother!

\:D

PPS. Dude, you got hosed. Your situation is so FUBAR that even *I* can't come up with any sound advice for you. A dog. Jebus H. Christo!

I wish she would have waited to buy a damn dog until after our court date and after the house was sold so I didn't have to deal with any of this shi%, which is precicely why I told her I didn't want a dog in the first place. If I'm correct, and I usually am, she'll wait until she get her own place and the dog starts distroying shi% that she cares about, or taking care of it will get in the way of her next passion and she'll get rid of it a year or so from now.

What really bugs me is what kind of message the kids are deriving with this pet rotation program BS: many cats, gerbals, hamsters, a parriot and now a dog, not to mention a failed marriage. It would seem to me at a time in a kids life where self-esteem is being developed, that involving them in one failure after another would be detrimental. It breaks my heart to witness.

P.S. Court date is set for February 12th. House goes on the market February 1st. We'll probably end up sitting on it for 6 months to a year the way the market is right now. Wish for the best, I could use some good karma.

Dude, you have no idea. In 1992 I started building what most would consider to be the house of a lifetime. It was a timber framed Alaskan Challet with 35 foot cathedral ceiling, all exposed timbers and car decking. It took me a year to build a 3.5' x 9' x 35' russian fireplace up through the middle of it that weighed in excess of 100-tons. The stair treads and bar top were solid 4-inch thick maple plank I cut and milled myself. The list goes on. I built it with cash. It was payed for. Then I met her and got married. For years all I heard was how much she hated living there, so I figured what the hell, I'm not about where I live, I'm about being outdoors and enjoying life, so we sold the place to buy waterfront, which was "her" dream. Now, after two years of remodeling we're through as a couple, and my half of the equity is barely enough to buy a $170,000 doublewide on a lot somewhere to live out the rest of my days.

Life sucks monster dog coc%, sometimes, bro.

Anyone think Sol will be spending much time in a doublewide home or female for that matter. Some people just arn't built to settle for less than what they want. Dude will do whatever it takes to come out better in the end. Unless he is like my old man and refuses to bite his tung or admit that he could be wrong. My Moms lawyer just loves that about him to the tune of almost 6 figures now and counting. Don't underestamate the value of getting it done ASAP. The lawyers don't mind loosing the fights if it makes for a longer war. Keep cool and get back to your way of life bud.

Cat, Aunty. A cat.

He's way cool. He's way friendly, not skittish, loves the kids, is tolerant, and is well behaved.

He comes and goes as he pleases. He uses the magnetic cat door. He doesn't chew on my house, nor does he pee/crap in my house.

I make sure he's got some dry food in his bowl and some water.

He sleeps on the covers, between my feet every night.

He'd even like you. ;\)

I'm failing to see the issue or problem with owning this cat.

I've owned *other* cats that are probably what you hate about cats. Seems that about 1 in a 100 are good cats. The rest are just flakes.

Between my parents and myself, there are 3 cats that fall in the "very cool range". The other half-million have been just cats.

The only time it's "weird" for a guy to own a cat is if he's single.

Then it's like having potpourri on your coffee table next to a copy of 'Redbook.'

If he's married with kids then it's just part of the territory, like a bathroom cabinet filled with tampons and hair junk.

Yeah sure, bring up the "Barn Cat Exemption."

I think we were talking about some fruit keeping Mr. Bigglesworth on a satin pillow next to his autographed picture of Celine Dion, not some semi-feral fleabag.

We have a semi-feral cat that lives outside. It won't even set foot in the house, runs off when I come near it but let's Mrs. Chuck E comb it. She feeds the birds and we had a critter of some sort burrowing under the compost pile until the cat showed up. Now we have a mini eco-system -she feeds the birds, the cat eats the birds and other critters. We have a sharp shinned hawk that comes thru and eats birds also. I just wish the cat would get tough enough to chase off the raccoons that come thru about three times a week. I didn't have cats in the house until I met my wife so I'm invoking the 'barn cat exemption' also.

Sol, think "BIG PICTURE". It is only money in the end and you know how to make plenty more of that. The bonus is you don't have to put up with your ex all the time. You will always have an ex-wife as long as you are both still alive so get use to it. Love your kids and be civil with your soon to be ex-wife for the sake of your kids and your own mental health. Good luck finding some one to put up with your $h!t in the future for any length of time but hey who knows there might be a double-wide, jacked-up 4 wheel driving, tobacco chewing cowboy chasing old lady you just haven't found yet. Keep up the hunt.

It's going to take a PERFECT fit before I go exclusive ever again. At this point in my life I'm not willing to compromise on anything. She's going to have to be a horndog, like me, she is going to have to live, eat and breath steelheading and/or snowboarding, she is going to have to smoke weed or at least be completely ambivalent about me smoking it, she can't believe in God and she must hate her mother. You never know about the perfect fit. One of the dudes in my office said he would not even date a girl unless she fit into all the right boxes. When he told me what they were I was sure that he would never find it. Sure enough he is engaged:

short - check
round- check
low self-esteem -check

No end of thread......and no soup for you! ;\)

Sol, dude, duuuuude....I feel for you man and I understand your pain. There is more to this dog deal than meets the eye.

First of all, she got a dog because she wanted a dog for quite some time. I'll bet she asked you for a dog years ago while you were married, probably asked on occasion all throughout the marriage......but you said "NO" each time she asked and got progressively stronger with your "NO" after each successive inquiry. Right?

Out of respect for you she did not get a dog while you were married. You said "NO" and she respected that. Now that she is making her own decisions there's a dog in the picture. Hmmmmm.....did she do it because she wanted to piss you off? No, she did it because she wanted a dog.

Now, I've got balls I'll defend my bud's no matter what and I agree with you 100% that it's a bullsheit move on her part since the dog is a pain in the ass and it's damaging mutual property..... but...........you've got to understand that she is probably not out trying to get laid like you, me, seastrike and countless other poonhounds on this board. She's probably lonely and the dog is her company. She may even need that dog to cope with the divorce. Think of it as her therapy.

Blue water pro's advice about getting the anti-chewing spray is golden. I wanted to make a hat out of my ex's dog when he was a puppy and chewed the cork to sheit on my Loomis rods. I was pissed.....beyond pissed but she paid the expediter fees for all the rods and soon I had all new rods. Since they were beat to sheit in the first place, it actually worked out in my favor. She also bought a sheitload of that anti-chew spray and just about coated the entire house with the stuff.......it worked like a charm. In time the dog stoped chewing everything, quit pissing and sheiting in the house, and turned out to be a damn good fishing dog.

You got a truck she probably wouldn't approve of if you were married, she got a dog. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that she's going to do what she wants to now and you have no control over it. My ex does the same stuff and it pisses me off, but she's hot and she still comes over and gives it up even though were not technically together any more. I feel for you, man, it's ok to get pissed about it and you should be. Just remember that she probably needs that dog right now so please don't kill the damn thing.......just feed it a bunch of refried beans before she takes a road trip and the sheitstorm will follow! \:D

Sometimes you can be pretty smart, dude. I've articulated all that my self and agree with you. She's a little lost right now, and if the dog helps her though this shi%, more power to her. She is now keeping it in the garage during the day so it can't chew up any more property, and my blood pressure is back to normal since I launched this thread.

Stay tunned for next weeks episode of, "SOL BLOWS HIS TOP."

I avoided the responsibility /hassle of dog ownership most of my life, partly by choice and partly by circumstance, now I can not imagine not having a good dog. Puppies are a handfull and must have attention, buying fancy products will not replace common sense... Supply the puppy with choice items to chew, not just one item either, and attention/affection. Get a dog book before getting a dog if you don't savvy dogs.

I am recently divorced and probably have more in common with SOL than either of us would admit...if what's her name gets that 1.7K freed up soon, I have a building site ready to go. <grin>

Here is a good story....
My little brother just got a divorce.
His ex wife (read BITCH) was bitter and vowed to make his life a living Hell (her exact words)
Nasty phone calls and constant threats, using their kid as leverage, playing mind games with the kid etc...etc...
She tells him that she is taking him down the road financially, kicks him out of the house and tells him that he had better be prepared to pay the piper in court.

Well the court date comes, she sits down with several thick binders of documents in front of her.

My brother has nothing in front of him at all.

The judge listens to the facts, looks at the pay stubbs then crunches the numbers.

"I've reached a decision"

Since the child lives with the father.......NO CHILD SUPPORT.

The house?...Since you Mrs Bitch kicked the husband out....YOU MAKE THE PAYMENTS!

Alimony..........SEVEN DOLLARS A MONTH.

My bro said that woman walked out of the courtroom like someone had punched her in the gut.

As far as pets?
I've had horses, dogs, cats all kinds of creatures.

I have a male orange tabby cat that is hands down the best pet I've ever owned.

Obnoxious barking dogs that tear the shitt out of everything piss me off to no end.

I do have great empathy for my kids and what they have learned from the disposable pet program. I see the hurt in the eyes of my older one. That said, I wouldn't waste a broadhead putting that mut out of it's misery when I could do it with my bare hands. It has damaged the house, it has bitten neighborhood kids, and it has left feces on the floor in the house often enough for prospective buyers on two different occations to see it while the house was being shown to them before my ex could discover it and get it cleaned up. Needless to say, the house has yet to sell, and all my equity and ability to move on with my life is tied up until it does.

I just thought I would update my post at the top of this thread with a post-mortum on the situation. Sorry if having to read it again bothered you. I have to live with the reality of it every day. smile

Maybe you should just "give" the house to the ex....along with the mortgage, along with the dog, along with the chewed up tid bits, and forget it. You could chalk it up to "lesson learned". Ooooops....did I say that? wink

After being married 4 times, and divorced 3, ya kinda get used to it. Finally did get me a keeper though..! thumbs

Still, even after the 25 years since the first one, there are issues from time to time with each (except #3) that must be dealt with. Having kids together really fouls up the works, for sure. It's worth it though to see them grow up, and have a part in it all.

There IS LIFE AFTER DIVORCE......ya just gotta live long enough!
