While most visitors to Alaska's Kenai Peninsula usually utilize the services of an Alaska fishing guide or Alaska fishing charter for halibut fishing, or the Kenai and Kasilof River king salmon and trout fisheries, there are some other fisheries available that don't necessitate their use and offer decent fishing opportunities for bank-bound anglers.

This section is designed to briefly describe some of the do-it-yourself angling options for those wishing to try to wet a line on their own.

The public fishing areas that provide any amount of success are usually well-known, and as such, expect to find some company!

There are opportunities for salmon anglers in some of the smaller streams, the Homer Enhancement Lagoon, as well as the Kenai / Russian River sockeye fisheries ... the latter spots being the place where the word 'combat fishing' likely originated :)

Kenai Peninsula, AlaskaIn respect to the private property owners around the lakes and rivers, and to those anglers that have 'paid their dues', we continue our site's policy of not publishing maps of small lakes, small streams, or lesser-known access points on the larger rivers. That being said, from time-to-time, we have been known to scribble out a map on a napkin for our customers wishing to fish one of the lesser-known areas on their own.

Below, you will find links to the popular bank fishing spots from north to south on the Kenai Peninsula's eastern side:
