Kenai Peninsula TravelThe Kenai Peninsula extends southward from the Anchorage area in southcentral Alaska. The towns of Kenai and Soldotna are generally considered to be the center of the area's fishing activities; although, many people choose to stay in some of the small outlying towns such as Ninilchik, Seward, or Homer.

Not intended to be a complete vacation travel planning page, the page will give you some ideas of the necessary travel requirements and links to those areas where you can finalize your travel plans to Alaska.

Basically, there are four primary ways that most of our fishing charter & guide service customers get to the Kenai / Soldotna, Alaska area:

  • The first is to fly into Anchorage via most major airlines. In Anchorage, rent a car and then make the three-hour drive south to the Kenai Soldotna area. This is the most popular option ... it's a spectacular drive that is often listed as one of the top ten scenic drives in the country.

  • Another option is to fly into Anchorage, then hop onto a commuter flight to the Kenai / Soldotna area, and then rent a car at the Kenai airport.

  • A third option has become popular in just the last few years ... traveling to Seward up the Alaska coastline on a cruise ship, taking cruise line's transportation to Anchorage and renting a car there.

  • Another popular choice that is seeing increased popularity is flying into Anchorage and renting a motorhome, usually, companies will deliver to the airport for you. Serving as both accommodations and transportation, many people planning on traveling across much of the state choose this option.
