And we know Chinook are shrinking. Fecundity, the number of eggs per female, is directly related to size. Smaller female, less eggs. Fewer eggs means fewer fry. So, maintaining the numerical goal on smaller fish means you put less eggs in the gravel which means fewer returning adults. Vicious circle leading to smaller runs of smaller fish and smaller fisheries.
