After all this ugly weather at last yesterday was just great! So while setting on the deck sunning myself like a San Fran Fisherman’s Warf Sealion I got to see something I have not seen for many years. At about half outgoing a sturgeon went vertical right in front of my house. To put it in perspective that was about forty feet. No BS that was the biggest sturgeon I have ever seen! I have witnessed many sturgeon rise out of the water but this thing looked like a damn tree! Went straight up and slowly tilted and crashed back into the water.

When I was little and a Cosy rugrat two old fins had a old wooden boat with a cabin that fished upstream of the Cosy boat launch. Always drinking, arguing, and fishing. One day I watched them for what seemed forever get a fish and when they got it a shore even subtracting for kid’s eyes effect it was a monster. I have never seen one that big again until yesterday. It is good to see we haven’t wiped all the big guys out.

Oh almost forgot, the guys gave me a small ( legal ) sturgeon which I hauled home in my wagon. Dad about had a stroke for being out of the yard and as I recall mother shall we say lost it but the next day not so much as dinner was something else. That did end my trips to the boat ramp though !!
